Empowering Girls,

Food Security and Nutrition

Food insecurity and malnutrition remain critical issues in Northeast Nigeria, with women and children bearing the brunt of the crisis. Limited access to productive resources for women farmers, coupled with the adverse effects of climate change on agricultural yields, restricts household food availability. This often leads to chronic malnutrition, particularly among girls, impacting their physical and cognitive development, school attendance, and overall future potential.

ACF implements integrated programs to enhance food security and nutrition at the household and community levels. We empower women farmers with training in sustainable agricultural practices, provide access to essential farming inputs, and support the establishment of community and backyard gardens to diversify diets. Our initiatives also include vital nutrition education for mothers and caregivers, alongside advocacy for and increased budgetary allocation and implementation of gender-responsive nutrition programs.
